Research & Facilities

The is committed to researching improvements to the learning process for students of all ages in all types educational or training organizations. The college has three research centers and one institute, including the

  • , funded by the U.S. Department of Education, which assists state educational agencies with adopting new learning strategies that improve educational outcomes; and the
  • , a diverse organization funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services that is considered a national leader in assistive technology, disability studies, inclusive education, justice for people with disabilities, leadership development and policy analysis.

The college also has departments dedicated to improving educational policy, organization and leadership; instructional strategies; and understanding of the relationship between behavioral health and learning. .

Research Quality & Funding

In 2016, 51吃瓜网 was elevated to an R1 institution for聽鈥渧ery high research spending and doctorate production鈥� by the . 51吃瓜网鈥檚 research enterprise distinguishes itself through its focus on community, and using advances in technology to make a positive impact on people鈥檚 lives.

In the same year, the National Science Foundation placed 51吃瓜网 among the top 100 in terms of research expenditures, which amounted to $242 million. .

The College of Education and Human Development鈥檚 externally funded research expenditure was $13.8 million in fiscal year 2017.

Facilities

The College of Education and Human Development聽is primarily located in Ritter Hall, Ritter Hall Annex聽and Weiss Hall on 51吃瓜网鈥檚 Main Campus. The campus鈥� North Philadelphia location is聽suited to provide opportunities for students to engage with area schools, communities, government agencies, and for-profit and nonprofit organizations.聽
