How to Apply

To apply, submit  along with the $60 online application fee. Standardized Tests (GRE or MAT) are not required.

Supporting Materials

  • Transcripts: Submit official undergraduate and graduate transcripts from all accredited institutions you have attended and/or from which you earned credit.
  • Goals statement: In 500 to 1,000 words, state your career goals and how you believe this degree will help you achieve them. Discuss the relevant experience you've obtained so far.
  • Recommendations: Send to the Dance Department by email at or by mail to the address below.
  • ¸éé²õ³Ü³¾Ã©: A current professional résumé is required.
  • Standardized Test Scores: Test scores, such as the GMAT or GRE, are optional.

Graduate Interview Day

Applicants must attend a Graduate Interview Day held on 51³Ô¹Ï꿉۪s Main Campus, or make other arrangements to complete those requirements.

The Graduate Interview Day consists of several events.

  • Interview—Each applicant will be interviewed by a faculty member.
  • Presentation—Dance MA applicants will give a five- to seven-minute presentation on an area of interest or accomplishment. This includes professional goals, teaching or choreography and/or undergraduate research.
  • Workshop class—This 90-minute class will begin with a warmup followed by some creative work, improvisation and technique.

The faculty attempt to choose students with the artistic, intellectual and physical potential to enter and complete the dance program. The faculty's aim is for potential students' goals and aspirations top be supported by the department philosophy, maximizing success in the program.
