Residency Programs
Increasingly, students who graduate with Doctor of Pharmacy degrees pursue postgraduate residency programs that further prepare them for clinical practice.ÌýMany positions in academia and clinical pharmacy have a minimum requirement of a post-graduate first-year residency (PGY-1).ÌýPost-graduate second-year (PGY-2) residencies give 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÂ professionals the opportunity to specialize in a particular clinical area.Ìý
, 51³Ô¹ÏÍø's affiliated system of hospitals, clinics, and physician offices, hosts five PGY-1 residents per year and a PGY-2 residency in solid organ transplant. Along with 51³Ô¹ÏÍø Health staff, faculty serve as mentors for these programs.Ìý
In affiliation with 51³Ô¹ÏÍø Health, 51³Ô¹ÏÍø School of Pharmacy hosts four PGY-2 residents per year in ambulatory care, critical care, infectious diseases and internal medicine.ÌýThese programs are accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists and are available to PharmD graduates.
