This program is designed for adult learners who have already earned an undergraduate degree in a non-nursing major.聽A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required for admission.

Submit two professional or academic reference letters. 51吃瓜网 is most interested in the writer鈥檚 assessment of the student鈥檚 ability to work independently, academic and scholarly performance, analytical thinking and aptitude for advanced study, commitment to urban health, communication skills, and professional contributions. Writers should indicate how long they have known the applicant and in what capacity.
Submit a current copy of your r茅sum茅 with your application.
Include a 300- to 500-word statement of purpose articulating your background, academic and professional goals, and how your interests relate to the nursing program.
Students must have completed the following prerequisite courses needed for admission.
Chemistry with lab (4 credits)
Anatomy and Physiology with lab (8 credits)
General Biology with lab (4 credits)
Microbiology聽with lab (4 credits)
Psychology聽(3 credits)
Developmental Psychology or equivalent (3 credits)
English Composition (3 credits)
Courses will be evaluated for equivalency and transfer on an individual case-by-case basis. Cumulative course credits will be considered at the discretion of the admissions team.
Applicants must demonstrate evidence of successful completion of prerequisite course requirements with a 鈥淐鈥� or better. Pass/Fail grades are not acceptable. Prerequisite courses have an expiration date of 10 years. Prerequisite courses cannot be waived or substituted.
All prerequisite courses must be successfully completed prior to starting the program. Five of the eight prerequisite courses must be completed at the time of application; the remaining three courses may be planned or in progress, but must be completed prior to starting the program.
Students enrolled in courses that require clinicals, field experiences, lab and simulation, or internships must submit mandated clearances per 51吃瓜网 and College of Public Health policies.聽
Deceit in the submission of criminal background checks and child abuse clearance forms is cause for dismissal.
All 51吃瓜网 students are required to pay for coverage under the 51吃瓜网 Accident Plan.

Laptops are integrated into the curriculum at the College of Public Health to improve opportunities for active learning and provide greater access to specialized software and required tools in and out of the classroom. Incoming students are required to have a laptop that meets certain minimum hardware specifications. .
